I just heard of this discontinued model thats set up like a strat electronically. I did a search and found scott grove doing a youtube video on it where he raves about it even saying if he had to sell all his guitars he's keep the EG ! Granted, he's one man, but i found a couple other people proclaiming it the ultimate strat. And while i know it's not a strat, something very strat like but a sort of "improved" strat as it seems would be awesome to fill my fenderish needs along with my santana and soon to own bernie or 245. By the way, he says the wraptail one sounds a lot better than the trem model. Again, one man's opinion but while it would sound less stratty then a trem i'm sure, hardtails do sound better IMO. But he has me very very intrigued. But before i put the major effort it will take to find one of these rare models (need to find locally and hands on b4 buying) i wanna research them well, hence this post. Anything you can tell me would be helpful, especially the scale length. (hoping it's 25", not 24.5") Again, i'm not expecting a strat. It's far too removed from one design wise. But it does from that video obviously produce some very fender flavored tones which would really round out the PRS SE collection i am trying to avoid buying but believe i am helpless to avoid.

I had one with the trem. It's got a 25" scale length. I thought it sounded very stratty. The neck was definitely chunkier than the modern C shape of a strat.

Man, wish i hadn't found out about these. I've seen some reviews that just rave like it's a god send of a guitar. What i HAVEN'T seen is one single one for sale anywhere ! So even if i can eventually find one it's not gonna be local, and i don't like buying guitars online w/o a return policy, and even then i usually won't due to return postage. Then theres the fact that many are trem versions which i don't think i want, and some have different pickups that look P90ish or horrible solid blue finishes or such. So that narrows my chances a lot further. Oh well.....guess i'll just keep an eye on graigs list for a few months and hope i get lucky. It just sounds like a must have PRS., and in that video i mentioned it sounded like heaven.

I haven't seen very many pop up on Craigslist. I got mine in a trade and now I've traded it away.

I bought mine (Snowy) from a fellow forumite last year ad it has quickly grown on me! It does have the 25" scale, very lightweight 6# maybe, and a perfect WF neck. All 5 pickup positions are very useable and there's virtually no volume drop in 2 & 4. I've been rehearsing with it for the last month and the tones are just great. The only negative is that the stoptail bridge has a slight forward lean, but sets up well and intonates great. Absolutely the best bang-for-the- buck guitar I've ever owned!

Yeah, if u look at my initial post i mentioned that video. It was the sound in it that really got me interested in these. I found one about an hour away and dirt cheap. But it's that horric blue i can't stand and has a trem. 2 things i really don't want. Still can't help but be tempted knowing how hard it'll be to find the one i want.

DOHHH! How did I miss that!!?? Sorry for that!

I have 2 hard tails and recently picked up the trem version on my local CL south of $200. I blocked the trem and find it performs as well as the hardtails. If it's dirt cheap... BUY IT! (or PM me the info and I will)

Are you sure? I mean, does it sound exacly the same? I always deck my trems as i did with my santana. But because the trem must be off the top due to the way it rides in 6 screw notches, only the rear touches the top and i'm not sure how that would work to make it sound like the wraptail. theres very little contact. I can't imagine how it could sound the same, as i have always noted huge differences between hard tails and trems on strats for example. I might consider it if it does, tho the color is just one of my top hated colors. I'l never be able to look at it. But then i suppose i could spend $500 to have it painted if it's that good. It's a long drive too. I will probably wait. What i'd REALLY love is one like yours....wraptail and white ! You lucky dog ! I think i will probably just wait. It may take months but it will be worth it.

I've owned both a trem model and hardtail (I was snowy's original owner before it was named snowy). They sound different acoustically, but electronically, they sound very similar. The hard tails have a little more string resistance as compared to the trem, provided you leave the trem floating. The hard tails are also a little lighter. I believe the wood is fairly soft, and the threaded metal inserts inside the body at the bridge tend to loosen a little with time. If you deck the trem, you'll have a guitar that should stay in tune, has more intonation adjustment, and should give you many trouble free years of service.

Well, at this point i'm considering a trem model. Love the trem on my santana, but i'm just not convinced the tone isn't considerably different because i find all trem guitars have a certin tone difference than a hardtail. But since i've been looking i see these are super rare, especially if you are dead set against black or blue colors both of which i can't stand. But if i find one in a color i can like i will consider the trem model if the price is killin. One of the things that sold me so strongly on the hardtail is that scott grove video. The tone that thing has is like the sound in my head that i WISHED my fenders would get. So i fear a trem model is going to miss that mark.
