First time poster here. Long story short- I've been out of the scene for over 15 years, and now looking at getting a guitar again.
i just tried posting a long descript message and it failed, so I'll make this one more to the point.
If anyone has both, I would love to hear your thoughts on perceived tonality loss from the Floyd. I didn't notice it in store, but I'm certainly not an expert. I've read multiple threads regarding tuning issues with the PRS trem on the SE, so I thought the Floyd would solve this as well as add more versatility; however, I absolutely do not want to do this if it will degrade tonality and versatility. I had a Floyd in the past and I understand the stringing difficulties that lots of people have expressed on this board. I know music style has a lot to do with this decision, but I'm really not sure where I'll end up these days. My tastes are all over the map, and playing style is certain to differ from my angst youth days. Hence the need for versatility. I know for sure I'll be playing some early EVH, but I don't want a one trick pony because, in the same set,I might be going right into the Monkeys with my daughter.
If if anyone has both, I would greatly appreciate your opinions on Floyd vs PRS trem tonality differences.
Thanks,
