Surfing the net I came across several mentions of the Bernie Marsden VSB and that it would be the model to pick. Why?
What is the difference between the Bernie Marsden and the Bernie Marsden VSB? And what does VSB mean btw?

Ah thank you, then it makes no sense that it would be a better guitar. Looks cool, but it seems like that the one who said that it was a better version of the Bernie, didn't know what he was talking about. And if I'm correct that's the only color option anyway.

I have a Marsden as well as a PS Pattern and AP Wide Fat. The Marsden neck is a Wide Fat, and is TYPICALLY known to actually be somewhat bigger than the typical Wide Fat. Your mileage may vary as to whether you actually notice that big a difference.

Yep. The Marsden is listed as WF but is based on his '59 LP's neck and 'should' be a bit bigger than your typical WF.

When I bought mine a few years back the difference between the Marsdens neck and the SE245 was very noticeable. Reviews also had the neck being a touch larger. Mine is the right kind of chunky!

However, I have spoken to enough people now regarding the neck to realise this is no longer a given. Indeed, someone said they had a SE245 (I think) and felt that neck was bigger. Others have said they noticed little to no difference.

I can't vouch for those claims as my Bernie and others I've played have all felt the same, so....

Good to know there is a difference. When I'll buy a Bernie it should be one of the older ones. I like the regular SE necks, but I love to have one that is a bit chunkier. Probably end of the year. or next year. Right now I'm even selling some guitars because I need the money. Yesterday I parted from a 2011 SE Santana.

Mikegarveyblues, from which year is your chunky BM?

2011

Sorry you had to part with a guitar. Always hate that unless the money is funding a new one. Even then you wish you could have both!

You'll love the Marsden though!

Well.. I didn't play that one, so no problem with that one. As long I don't have to sell my Custom Semi Hollow with Bigsby and my SE EG I can handle it.

But I'm very interested in the BM. Especially the chunkier neck, so it would be nice to have certainty about the neck having changed. Or maybe the SE245 neck is chunkier than before and the BM neck hasn't changed. That could be a reason for the slight difference that some people reported.
