Just ordered an SE 245 online. I want a new nut and some black humbucker rings for it. Since I don't have the guitar in my possession yet I have a few questions.

1. What dimensions should I look for in a new nut? Like width and curvature?

2. Are the humbucker rings flat or curved on the bottom?

Links to parts you have bought in the past, particularly the nut, would be awesome. Any help, advice, and comments are always appreciated.

Super thanks,

Pachap.

I never though about this before, concerning the pickup rings. Being that my SE tops are flat I am wondering where I should look to find pickup rings that will fit them. I'm thinking of putting a new set of pickup rings on one of my SE's.

If anyone knows of a good source for these, direct fit, no hole drilling, and good surface contact, right size, etc., I'd appreciate it if you could share the source or product.

Thanks.

I bought the rings from the prs site linked above and they fit my 2001 sAntana (flat top) SE perfectly.

Evidently those are the USA ones. Do the screw holes into the body line up? I suppose any standard size HB would fit in them. Did you need to use new pickup adjustment screws?

Thanks for the info.

I had to use the original screws for the body. I changed pickups at the same time and used the spring nags and screws from the new set.

Did the screw holes in the body of the Santana line up with the holes in the new pickup rings? Or did you have to drill into the body at all?

You would think that all the pickup ring mounting holes would be the same, but you never know until you try to line them up.

I can't say I have ever used a pickup ring that required me to drill a new mounting hole, no matter what the brand of ring or guitar (all flat tops, not curved). I put creme rings on my lowery, and I just used ones that had been in my parts organizer for however long, probably dating back to before I owned PRS guitars.

It is very good to know that the mfg's standardized the positions of these pickup ring holes.

I changed my nut to a Graph Tech Tusc (seemed to be a popular choice) and it's a 6 x 43
The Tusc is white, I didn't know, but it looks good there. The luthier was very impressed at how hard the material was.
