What are your thoughts about the SE 24-08 vs Zach Mayers 2021 sig?
Trying to decide which SE should i buy? what is the best value for money?
Does the coil splitting is a deal breaker?
Worth mentioning - it will be my first PRS purchase.
Thanks and have a great weekend.

I had a Zach Myers previous sig model. Great guitar. Be very sure to inspect the actual guitar you buy as when i had mine the bridge was rolled forward as the posts were drilled into the body incorrectly and it sounded like a sitar until I repaired it.
As for the coil tap, I’ve had a few guitars with this option. Including two of Paul’s signature model. It only really gives an approximation of a single coil sound. I found that if I want a humbucker rock tone or a proper single coil tone then I swap guitar. Even my strat with noiseless pickups which are basically stacked humbuckers doesn’t really nail the classic single coil tone unless I wind the TBX right up and even then it’s not perfect. just my opinion......
I was very tempted by the latest Zach Myers model myself. Hope they’ve fixed the QC issues.

There is no real best value. They're apples and oranges. Both outhit anything in their class. As Eddie said, try to play one of each to see the neck profiles, and also listen to the different scale lengths. I personally prefer 25" scale and 24 frets. The Zach Meyers is their Best selling SE. So, 2 great very different guitars. As always, the forum answer is first one, then the other.

You need to try and feel the neck. The SE 24-08 has wide thin, while the Zach Myers has wide fat neck. It’s going to feel very different.
This! I have not met a Wide Thin neck I like ever. That's me though I like some wood in my hand when I'm playing.

I've had both guitars. Both played great but the pups on the SE Custom 24-08 are FANTASTIC, especially in single coil mode. Sold the ZM and purchased the 24-08. Just my 2 cents.

Apple and oranges. Comparing a single cut Semi-hollow vs a double cut with longer scale length. And the completely different necks. IF possible I say try to get out to a shop and have a feel for the guitars to see what feels right. The Zach Myers has the same shape/carve as previous model that was green; the new SE custom 24 has a slight violin carve update but otherwise pretty similar to other SE 24's you'll find (minus the toggles). Can't go wrong with either. Both look killer.

I have the green. Found one with a beautiful flame top. I do love the new blue color and headstock. Not a huge fan of the black tuners/pickups with this shade of blue. Personally, I would have preferred covered pickups and cream/white pickup rings and tuners. But I'm sure plenty love the blacked out look

My thoughts exactly on the pickups color... It gives the guitar a different vibe.
and about your previous comment, fortunately on sunday the shop will allow people to come in and play, what they didnt allow due to covid.
So gonna head there first thing in the morning and try them out.

Yes, C&M Music, Kenner location. They just got these the past week, like 60 in all. I have not seen one that is not stunning. It is killing me. They have a SE 24 quilt run in amethyst also that is killing me, not to mention some other stuff. I cannot make up my mind. They have a crapload of them up on reverb.
