SE 2017 Custom 24 issue

Just bought a new SE Custom 24, 2017 model, scarlet red version. It has a bad hum issue with blade switch moved out of middle position, and it gets terrible if I use the coil split. Have read this is a issue that others have run across. I looked at the connections, and the interior appears shielded with aluminum tape. Possible I just got a lemon? What should I do? Thinking of returning it to the store.
