SD Phat Cats

Probably a weird question but has anyone tried P90's in a PRS SE double cut ?. The SD Phat Cats are designed to fit humbucker routing holes.

Not a weird question at all. Personally, I like Lindy Fralins P-90's, others like SD , Lollar, Manlius.....The list goes on. As you can tell from my avatar I have P-90's in a double cut. There was an SE doublecut made with P-90's for a number of years. You can find them on the bay and Verb on a regular basis. I also have an SE Singlecut with P-90's. It was my first PRS and it'll never leave me.

I've actually been toying with the idea of buying an S2 594 Singlecut to drop a set of Bare Knuckle Nantuckets into.

I've only got two guitars so I might as well go chalk and cheese. P90's in my PRS SE and BK Mules in my Epi 50's gold top.

I had similar questions few months back and Lindy Fralin was like 90% recommendations.

I don't know if they make them, but if SD has a HB sized P90 in the Antiquity series, I'd sure try it first. I have a 594 Soapbar Limited that has the regular sized SD Antiquity P90s in it, and they are the best P90s I've ever used. Easily the best. I normally try Lindy Fralin first, but SD makes some incredibly good pickups and the Antiquity P90 is a gem. Seymour has been making pickups so long now that many people don't think of them like the boutique pickup guys, but they make a great pickup and I wouldn't hesitate to use SD pickups in any swap if they fit the sound profile I was after.

I have both Lindy’s and SD P90’s. There isn’t really a bad sound in any of them. My #1 is SD’s . My ears hear Lindy’s as different, and slightly clearer, if that’s the sound you want.
