Ok, I admit I have a bit of a 594 problem. Some how they keep finding their way to my house! Now a new (to me) configuration caught my eye, but I do not have a good feel for how different it might actually be. If anyone has some hands-on experience with similar configurations or partial similarities I would appreciate it. I play mainly punk/hardcore/metal with high-gain (boosted SLO or 5150) and recognize this will diminish a lot of tone wood nuance. This guitar would not necessarily scratch a tonal itch, as my main motivation is getting a torrified maple (satin, not finished) neck.

My current SC594s are:
1. Core standard configuration
2. Core with 59/09 in bridge
3. WL with Korina back and rosewood neck

I am looking at a SC594 with swamp ash back, torrified maple neck, and 57/08 pickups. Should I expect this to much different from my existing guitars or will this simply be an aesthetics change? The 57/08 seems like it may not be worlds apart from the 59/09 in my use case. The neck is enough to get me interested, but I am trying to level set how much of a difference I should expect with all of the different pieces.

The 59/09’s are definitely hotter than the 57/08’s, although similar. The 57/08’s are my favorites. Why not get the guitar, try the pickups and change the bridge if you don’t like the tone? I have 2 guitars with a 57/08 in the neck and a 59/09 in the bridge. Tone is subjective, as is the difference. Without hearing it through your own signal path there is no real way of knowing. If you love the 59/09’s, why not have someone just switch the pickups? I certainly would hear the difference, but I play a lot of clean rhythm.
