The regular pattern neck on the NF3 is a baked in finish that feels smoother than a babies butt.

The PTC did that to the neck of one of my CE's and I love the way it feels! Better than going bareback.

I like the satin neck on my ZM.
It got even more slick after using Virtuoso Polish on the neck, and of course the rest of the guitar.
I wish they all came with satin necks.

Opinions vary so much on this stuff! I'm a fan of the shiny necks that come on most PRS US models. I can't explain why, I just prefer that kind of feel.
It's impossible to please everyone, so it's nice that some models are satin and some aren't.

I think pretty much all Maple necks post-2010ish have this finish, DC3, NF3, SA(Studio/NF etc), Brent Mason, Artist Pack etc.
I've had it on my NF3 and now my 624 (DC3) and really like it, but as Les says, horses for courses

The neck on the NF3 has an excellent feel although I do like the standard glossy necks on most PRS models. So this response is fairly useless...sorry.
