Santana Sig Headstock

Does anyone know why the headstock on the Santana Signature model is different from the iconic PRS shape used on every other PRS model (including the SE Santana)?

Have you seen the pre-factory (prior to April 1985) Santana body shape and headstock combo?

Therein lies your answer. The Santana headstock pre-dates what is commonly regarded as the iconic (pointy) PRS headstock shape.
