Santana Controls

I’m looking to get a Santana sometime in the next year (hoping for a wood library to show up on the market with specific specs). While perusing the market, I noticed the Santana switched to a McCarty style control setup around the 25th anniversary, only to switch back a couple years later. Does anyone have any background on this? I’m curious why they switched to and from the formation. Did it get in the way?

They probably switched it to simplify the production line, then switched back because Santana people didn’t like it.
