Was thinking the other nite while having a few brews, watching a very good band play and people dancin', having a good time that Bars are good.
If it wasn't for Bars, Bar Bands and Alcohol the population in North America at least would likely be about 1/2 of what it is now

You live in an area where bars still have bands? You're a lucky guy! The San Francisco Bay Area is the DJ capital of the world, and bands have to pay to play in the few places left that still have live music. Unless you're a big name, you might as well forget about getting paid.

What's getting paid?

I guess I should stop complaining about crappy bars, smoking venues, dumb-a$$ bar owners, light crowds and poor pay.:flute:

On our next record, there will be a song about the two bars within walking distance of our house, basically across the street from each other. They usually have cover bands which is not our thing, but they are cool places with good vibes, and did I mention walking distance?

Biker bars, cover bands, dollar shots and beers in hand
Yeah we got no place to be, don't you know we're baby free!
Leave the car in the lot, we'll stumble home, just a few blocks

Let's have fun like we were young

Come to MD Boogie.... smoke free bars! We still have decent crowds... pay is eh... 450-650/gig depending on venue!
For classic rock venues (lots of different places for other genres), they're still mostly smoking here, unfortunately. But that's about what we see for pay, so maybe I'm expecting a bit too much. Even better, our entertainment value went up last weekend when the cops showed up to break up a fight. We capitalized on the photo opportunity. Maybe the working title for our release should be "Bathed in Blue Light" or "Hacienda Blues" after the venue we played. Classy. :star:

You know--that's where you show up, do your job, and they give you pieces of paper with pictures of presidents on them, that you can exchange for things like food, housing, guitars, amps, etc. so you can keep doing your job...what a concept, eh?

I am intrigued by your ideas and would like to subscribe to your newsletter.
