I’ve made my final decision after some reconsidering to sell my Sunburst 22. I just don’t get inspired with it anymore. So as I’ve said in my related thread, I’m interested in the S2 Studio...possibly a Vela semi hollow or a CE24 semi hollow.
Just need some opinions on experiences with these models. I’m obviously lean single coil type, so does a CE fit? Not sure I would like a 24 fret, but I’ve heard people love their CEs.

Whatever one is cheaper for me to trade for your custom 22! Jokes aside, thats a tough choice. I'd get the CE but I know this all started over the studio. The Vela would be last for me.

Yeah, I’m thinking to go with my first choice, but I totally forgot about the CE line. Not sure if it’s different enough from the CU22

I had the S2 Studio and CE24SH. Of the two, I instantly loved the CE24SH. The Studio took some time and never grew on me, which I thought was weird consider I absolutely adore the S2 Standard 22.

The CE felt more alive in my hands. It has a nice snap and the splits sound killer. Had to sell it to get my ME-V, but I will have another one day.

My CU22 just didn’t have the greatest split tones, really just cause of the volume drop. Not bad though. I like the sound of “snappy “

The CE is seeming to be a good choice. Snappy, while still retaining humbuckers for when I feel the need.
I’ve got the “Sunburst 22” listed on reverb @ $2190 if there are any interested.

One more question... does the semi hollow still retain the snap on the CE? I’ve always wanted a SH

I adore Sunburst 22s, used to own one, and really wish I had the cash available at the moment!

I’m going to tell you to go with the studio, but that’s without knowing what else is in your arsenal. I have them both, love them both, and find that the studio has a very unique voice. It’s not really an SSH, so if that’s what you’re looking for, it’s not going to fill the bill. I use it for blues and r n b mostly. The cleans are not as glassy as a true single coil, but it’s got good spank in the two and four position. The neck pickup also is excellent, as is the bridge pickup. You can get the edge of breakup sound from your amp, and the use the guitar volume control. I only play two channel amps, so I set the 2nd channel for balls to the walls. That’s a lot of tones at your fingertips! Then you can circle back next buying cycle and get the CE24. My CE is older, has 57/08’s in it, and a very powerful sound. But it’s not funky like the studio. And the bridge on the studio can roar.

The Studio is very intriguing to me because of the funk. I like the funk.
This is a tough call. Every time I think I’ve decided, I double think myself.
My current arsenal...Silver Sky, McCarty soapbar, telecaster(Lollar 52’s), and the Sunburst 22.
Side note: my favorite PRS guitar tones I had was my P22 with the 53/10s... those pickups were phenomenal! I would like to have those (uncovered) in a semi hollow :)

Get a ce-24 semi hollow, if feasible, and it’ll cover just about anything...as will the Special semi-hollow. If budget is’nt an issue, then go for the custom 24-08.I reluctantly sold my ce-24 sh to get the 24-08, but it covers everything I play..and I’m wacky, I play just about any style you can think of..mood dependent!
