Whats the biggest differences between the pre-594 S2 Singlecut vs the new models? Obviously pickups, binding and bridge, but are the new ones heavier? Thicker/beefier? I can't find an SC245 or SC58 in my price range, and thought I'd do better with the 594 S2 and pickup swap.

Pretty much just two things, the bridge and the control layout. The 594 has the LP control layout and a two piece bridge, the older one has a stoptail and the PRS control layout (forward diamond instead of a back leaning diamond). For me personally I like the PRS control layout but I would like the two piece bridge but the stoptail works fine so overall I'd go with the older S2. I am afraid, however, that I am in the minority

Is the bridge/tailpiece on the S2 the same as the core?

I believe so. Do they have SE specific stop tails? I feel only the studs make it metric and non USA. Otherwise bridge is the same.

The SC has a 25” scale. The 594 does not. That’s the biggest difference to me (an S2 SC owner).

The adjustable stoptail is the same as core, so is the nut. My S2 has phase 2 tuners, core are mostly open gear phase 3 (prefer them)

As I understand it anyway
