I love the S2 Singlecut! So much so that I purchased a 2nd one late in '15... a solid body (first one was a semi-hollow). Color is Elephant Gray. The Pattern Regular Neck, the construction, the materials, the ergonomics and the look... ALL add up to what I want and need out of an electric. Only the electronics and the pickups fell short of my desires. The tone of the Korean made #7s, while not terrible, just sounded generic to me. The feel and performance of the pots and switches ran up well short of PRS Core and Gibson.

My preference in a Singlecut Guitar is for vintage voiced / low output PAF style humbuckers and straight ahead 3-way switching complemented by full sizes USA pots / no coil splitting or tapping.
SOooo I ordered up accordingly:
1. From Seymour Duncan: Antiquity PAF Humbucker set.
2. From RS Guitarworks: 500k Short Shaft Super Pots (volume), CTS 500k audio taper / short shaft tone pots, .022 GuitarCap tone capacitors, Switchcraft 3-way switch (short)
3. From Tone Shapers: 2 Treble Bleed "Volume" kits (cap + resistor wired in parallel)
4. From Gibson: Speed Knobs (gold) and Switch Tip (amber)
5. From WEC Inlay: Modern Eagle (style) Truss Rod Cover
6. From PRS: Pair of Cream Pickup Rings

Though a bit nerve wracking (had to widen two holes to accommodate the CTS pots), installation went perfectly. I take my time and have all needed tools to do these jobs the right way. Wiring was done "Modern Style". Strung up with GHS Big Core Nickel Rockers (9.5-43), the tone is outstanding! The smooth custom taper of the "Super Pots" facilitate volume control gain changes wonderfully. While it still has the snap of a PRS / 25" scale instrument, The Antiquities increased the mids a bit, moving the tone a click or two further into L.P. territory. This guitar is now a no compromise "player" through and through. I am so happy. I run it into my Rectoverb 25 head with an EP Booster out front. It just crushes. Many happy days / months / years of playing ahead.

Simply amazing looking S2. Wow! Would love to know more about the Truss Rod Cover and where you purchased it.

Not sure where he got it, but you may want to check out Shark Inlays. Chuck does some great work, and was a member of BaM.

He did this one for one of my project guitars that I hope to finish soon.

Looks great! Love that TRC and the knobs. I got S2 sickness as well, have 2 Custom 22's (semi and standard satin). Great guitars, loving mine more and more every day.

Really like the top on yours as well!

Nice! I approve of these mods, although I'd miss the coil splits and lampshades. Way to make it your own, though. I love it when people swap the black rings for ivory. Makes a big difference in making the S2 guitars pop visually.

Agreed on electronics and pickups. Mine got Suhr pickups and PRS Core volume pots. The three-way feels a bit sloppy, so I'll probably swap that out someday when the mood suits.

Thanks for the nice comments guys. Finishing out this guitar was one of the most satisfying jobs I have done. No regrets or second thoughts! The Antiquity pickups are fantastic... wonderful clear yet warm and woody tone. Very happy with my choice here: I recall reading that Paul used Duncan Pickups in some of his first instruments. These fit and enhance the tone of the guitar so deliciously... The Antiquity has got to be there finest unit. The electronics function extremely well... The RS Guitarworks "Super Pots" have a taper that suites a vintage PAF exceptionally well. There are so many tonal possibilities within the standard 4 knob (no coil taps / splits) layout... I'll be exploring for weeks. All function with the smooth precision one expects from a top tier instrument. The look, though different, is respectful to the proud PRS heritage (not an attempt to turn it into an LP). One of you wanted more specifics on the truss rod cover... It was crafted by Scott at WEC Inlay. I wanted a inlay material (MOP) that would really pop, draw the eye to the head stock and give it a little more delineation from the neck / fret board. Built to order, it arrived just as I had seen it in my minds eye. He did a gorgeous one for my Semi-Hollow as well.
