I have a question for the members who have bought a S2 satin model. How is the finish holding up? Does it scratch easily?

Mine does just fine. But I am careful to keep sharp objects and edges away from it. Normal use? No problem.

Mine acquired some belt rash fairly quickly - quite minor, and no finish wore off or through, but you have to keep in mind that it's basically raw wood, and hence is softer than a gloss finish. Basically it has some very shallow indentations. If you're looking for something that will stay museum quality, get a gloss finish standard. But if you want a player, the Satins are where it's at.

I'm not really worried about scratches. I know that'll happen from getting banged around. I guess I'm really asking if the finish will rub through where my arm and hands rub on it?

I noticed on mine that the back of the neck had lost its dullness so to speak, like the matte is wearing off due to rubbing up and down the neck, but I don't gig mine so its clean for now....best s2 I own so far..

I've not had any spots start to rub through yet. I think the smoothness of the necks that develops is more a buildup of oils from hands and so on. Which sounds gross... but it sure is comfortable when it gets worn in!

well I think its like the Gibson hollowbodys that are matte finish where guys buff them out to a shiny finish, my hands are always washed before jamming, al least I hope that's not it...lol

really didnt care for the s2 series for a while but i saw a charcoal satin single cut the other day and was totally loving it.
