S2 Pickups and Tone control on S2 Custom

Hello

I was playing with a friend's PRS S2 Custom and found that the tone control was quite remarkably musical in the complete range 0 to 10. Any guitar I've ever owned is usually just all muffled at the lowest setting. To my ear, it didn't sound simply like a different cut-off frequency for the low pass filter. I'm wondering if anyone knows if there's anything special they do for the tone control, or if it really is just a pot and a capacitor? I looked on their site for the wiring diagram but couldn't find one specifically for the S2 series.

Also, does anyone have the specs for the S2 Vintage Bass and S2 HFS Treble pickups? I'm wondering what their DC resistances are.

Thanks
Mark

I agree with the tone control - really nicely calibrated on the S2's (mine is a Mira). Not sure what the pickup specs for these are, but they seem to be right about what the equivalent Core version of the pickup is. They are definitely nice pickups and they split very well.

+1 I have a tendency to run the volume @ 10 and use 2-channel amps for clean & dirty; with the S2 Mira I feel it's often best around 8-8.5, and then you can get that little extra push over the cliff when you need it, really nice feel and control.

What I'm confused about is how such a nice tone shape is achieved. Tone controls on a guitar are generally simple low pass filters. So they often sound simply very muffled when you are close to 0 on the control. The PRS S2 Custom still has enough clarity to make it jazzy in a musical way. It seems like everyone agrees it's nice. But how is it happening? Is there any wiring diagram info for these guitars? I suspect, perhaps, it's as much the pickups as it is the wiring. I've looked at what diagrams are available on the PRS site, and they aren't anything special.
