I traded a Custom 22 that was a 10 on the visual side, that just didn’t “ do” it for me for a S2 Standard, yup. It just screamed out to me. It feels like I cannot do anything wrong with this guitar, it’s unreal. I can get sloppy, grip, rip and it LOVES IT.

Now, I have a question, I want this to be a Blues crying, dry rotting, on the verge of seizure, sobbing axe. I just can’t get “quite” what I need from the stock 58/15S. Will I get it from a set of 58/15?
Here is the culprit , I bring you Black Betty…….https://imgur.com/gallery/kGRsCVS
Thanks for any suggestions!!

I've said it many times, the S2 Satin Standards are hands-down the best value in the PRS catalog, and they sound fantastic.

I have a covered 59/09 bridge in mine, along with the stock #7s neck. I think 57/08 or 59/09 would be a step in the right direction if you wanted something a little warmer. 58/15 USA I would expect to be even more articulate and a little brighter. Just depends on what you're after.

57/08s are fantastic. Very warm, airy, and open. I like them so much I'm putting them in a Heritage 535.

I'd think 57/08, or if you wanted to go outside of PRS pickups, Wolfetone Dr V are excellent.

The above mentioned pickups are great options. I’ll also throw out the Bare Knuckle Mules as a good option.

I've got a S2 Standard 24 with 85/15S's, S2 Custom 22 with 85/15S's, S2 Custom 22 with Porter Gatekeeper's and a core Custom 22 with 85/15 pickups and 5-way slide switch. The 85/15 pickups are the brightest. The Porter Gatekeepers are the warmest, and the ones I would use for blues. Plus they are from their import line, and only cost $99 a set.

Wolfe makes excellent pickups. I haven't tried them in a PRS yet but many if his models have sounded excellent in every guitar I've dropped them in. My favorite combo is the Marshallhead/Dr V but I have a Dr V in the bridge of my SG that sounds perfect in that guitar.

I agree. The S2 satin is a heck of deal for a damn fine guitar
