Get one with a return policy. I love my S2’s, but there isn’t anything everybody loves or agrees on. I’d buy it in a heartbeat, especially if it was blue. But then, I have an addiction, and it ain’t potato chips.
I really like the #7 pups in my S2 singlecut (blue). I would describe the pups as responsive and chewy, slightly spongey. Like a hot P90 when clean (without the noise), and a slightly hot PAF-like sound when using distortion. Hard to describe, but very nice unique sounding pups, not quite like any other PRS pups.

I've got one with the #7's. The guitar itself is pretty resonant and deep sounding in the bass, the S2 #7 pickups on the other hand are fairly bright with a considerable upper mid honk to them, the end result is they balance each other out. Still has more bass than a solid body model, and the highs are slightly more relaxed with no hint of ice pick. I love mine for mellower use, and also for lead tones that aren't as piercing as a solid body.
Some people find them slightly murky, and I've experienced that with pure nickel strings - if you get one, definitely try nickel plated steel - I've had good luck with DR Tite Fits, currently using the PRS Classics (which I think they may have switched to NPS, used to be all nickel), and the PRS Signature strings worked well to balance things too, but so much so that they kind of stole some of the character from the tone.
