I am having a serious dilemma right now. I've wanted a PRS core for the longest time but can't seem to justify the price. So when an S2 with american pickups came along I was ecstatic! But I wasn't in position to buy the 10th anniversary model at the time nor was I in position when the new 2024 models came out. Now I can buy one and I am just so indecisive about whether to get a 10th anniversary custom 24 for about 2k or a custom 24-08 for 2.3k. What do you guys think?
Or should I just save my money for now and wait for a core like I've been doing and ignore the impulse lol

Are you trying to decide between two specific guitars, or just the models in general? I like the TCI pickups, but they aren’t for everybody. Can’t easily change them if they don’t agree with you. I say wait for something to really grab your attention, then get it and don’t look back.

I am extremely pro-S2, even without USA pickups so I don't think you could go wrong with either of those

That said, if your budget is $2-2.4K you can find quite a lot of used core custom 24s in that range as well...

As others have said, the S2 with Core electronics will be a killer guitar. I adore my 10th Anniversary S2. From a tone and playability standpoint, it really is tough to justify a Core instrument given how much the new S2's close the gap. Having said that, if you have a budget of up to $2,500, I agree with the others, don't overlook a used Core. A couple of benefits there are that you will have additional options with neck carves and other options.

On to my next point, if you plan to gig the guitar, I'd go S2 over Core, and unless you have a chance to play the new 24-08 first, I'd play safe and go with the 10th Anniversary Custom 24 or one of the new S2 Custom 24's if the 10th isn't in a color that you particularly fancy.

Thank you everyone your feedback is very much appreciated and very helpful. I ended up going with the 10th anniversary as I realized I wanted the 85/15 pups and I think realistically I wouldn't split the coils individually all that often. As to why I didn't get a core, tbh I didn't find any used cores within a similar price range other than ones thay were much older, I saw some on my reverb watch list that were sold tho :,)

I'm excited to get it soon hopefully and thanks again!
