RUSH …. It’s time

As a matter of fact, I do. There’s a place in NY that Henderson’s worked with for US distribution. However, they don’t have the latest releases. Really want to try their Belgian take. Xanabrew.
Moving Pitchers?
La Villa Stout-iato?
Counterparched?
Grace Under Pilsner?
HemisBeers???

Seriously, where’s my check?!?!?!

Ok, here's a sample of my Rush fandom.

Did the VIP ticket package for one of the Clockwork Angels shows. Took all of the goodies that came with that package to Michael's and had them frame it up. It turned out awesome, but way bigger than I expected.

Had to have this

A tube showed up in the mail one day, from Scotland. I was shocked when I opened it. Hand drawn by @Alnus Rubra (thanks buddy!). Another trip to Michael's for a frame job.

When Shawn gave me a factory tour in 2018 he made me wait in the lobby after we finished while he went up to his office/cubical and came back with one of Alex's guitars that was in for some work. Made my day!

More Rush artwork.

And a couple of Rush tattoos. The Farewell to Kings crowned skull and a symbol from Clockwork Angels. They're both more than 10 years old and have faded quite a bit. I really should go in and have them touched up. Sorry, should have warned you to don the sunglasses to protect you from my pasty legs!

I've got the 40 year anniversary box sets that they released for 2112, FWTK, Hemispheres, Permanent Waves, Moving Pictures and Signals. Not sure if I'll do any more of those.
Can't top that !!! Never shout of a By-Tor license plate. I know Rush2112 was taken in NY for the longest time and probably still is.

Dig it. Rush was the only band I saw in a full arena venue, and it was spectacular. I've liked them since I was a music major in the mid 80s. Two of my closest friends were drummers, so Rush was played often, and I got hooked.

I also still listen to full albums, which probably makes me old at this point. I shuffle playlists when driving and doing yardwork, but other than that, it's mostly pick an album.

As an aside, I got Lasik about 12 years ago. The doctor was also a Rush fan, and the live recording of "YYZ" played as lasers reshaped my eyeballs.
Thanks for sharing !!

I've been a Rush fan since Moving Pictures came out and as for many other people, they were the band that inspired me to get into music. They will forever cast a long shadow in the rock music world. I've been playing guitar in Rush tribute bands for over 30 years now, along with many other projects, but they have been my greatest influence. I like the idea of reviewing the entire catalog now that some time has passed since their final show.

Hemispheres is definitely a seminal album in that amazingly creative 1976-1981 period. We did a lot of shows over the years, including attempting a reproduction of the Moving Pictures tour, but once show where we bit off more than we could chew was playing Hemispheres back-to-back. The Villa Strangiato clip below is from that show. I'm playing my 1990 CE3 in that one. The Trees clip is from a different show. During the pandemic I recorded a demo of Cygnus X-1 Book II in the basement. I had to overdub a few flubs as it is pretty much impossible to get through the whole thing flawlessly, so you can imagine how it went live. It was a lot of fun to try, though :).

Wow. That's a good amount of gain stages into already high gain amps for that time. Three 100W Hiwatts must have been loud. I'm sure he dimed all those too.
Those Hiwatt DR 103 or DR504 are insanely LOUD and dont break up really until they are loud enough to kill small mammals.

Arguably louder than a Marshall 1959 SLP at full tilt.

Jimmy Page hada custom one with an extra gain stage (12ax7?) added because of that.

Very nice playing, Permanent Waves! Well done!

Huge Rush fan here. I did the chronological thing in the last couple of years. I noticed that my feelings toward many of the songs changed over the years, for better and for worse. My faves are still the Moving Pictures through Hold Your Fire albums. MP is the best, but I'm a huge fan of Grace Under Pressure. It's one of Alex's best guitar albums, IMO.

I also payed in Rush bands for almost 10 years. Here's a vid of my first one from over 10 years ago. (I know, it's a 4-piece, but what are you gonna do?) I'm playing my first ever PRS, a 1997 black cherry CE24. It's just like Alex's, which he used a lot on the Counterparts tour.

And @bodia I was surprised to see you have some books on your bookshelf that I have owned and read. Rush, PRS and Antietam/Gettysburg books? We might possibly be related.

Very cool! Indeed, we could. The Mrs and I rented a house in Maryland (Taneytown) in 2015 and did Antietam and Gettysburg. At the request of the wife, we went back to Gettysburg a second time on that trip. The first day was Columbus day and it was PACKED, and hot. Two days later it was practically deserted and cold/dreary. Gettysburg was an experience that everyone should have. Very heavy. In 2017 we did a Memphis trip and hit Shiloh, Corinth and Fort Donelson. Then in 2018 it was back to Taneytown. This time we did Valley Forge, Monacacy, and a tour from Shawn of the PRS factory.

That is an awesome performance! Alex was the one that turned me on to PRS, but they were very hard to find around here. Back around 1995, I was doing 911 system installations all over Maryland and I stopped by the Virginia Avenue factory from an address I got from a magazine ad, hoping to get a factory tour, but they already moved to Stevensville. I only got to try one for the first time at the Great House Of Guitars in Rochester in 1996, and finally bought my first one in 2002.
