A couple of the other threads made me realize how widespread and diverse our membership is. I know we have members from all over the globe, so tell us a little bit about your home. Don't be afraid to post some pics.

Maryland has the Atlantic Ocean to our east and the Appalachian, Blue Ridge and other mountains to our west with the Chesapeake Bay splitting the state in the middle. We are one of the original 13 colonies.
The borders between Maryland and Pennsylvania/Delaware form the Mason Dixon line.
Francis Scott Key composed the US National Anthem after witnessing a naval battle in Baltimore Harbor during the war of 1812.
The land was originally inhabited by Algonquian-speaking natives including the Piscataway, Chopticans, Potopacs, Patuxents, and Nacotchtanks indians.
We are famous for our Maryland Blue Crabs and Oysters harvested from the Bay.

Well I'm from Canada and live in Kitchener-Waterloo or K-W.

There are a few things this city is known for

BlackBerry started here and employs a huge number of people in the region. BB10 is due for release on Jan 30 with a number of activities in the area.

This guy if from the area he's got some street credit. I work with a guy that used to be part of his entourage. For the people who don't know this is LL Lennox Lewis world boxing heavy weight champ....he gave Tyson a lickin!


This kid lived 30 minutes away he's kinda of famous. His bat mobile is seen quite bit of action on the streets of KW as his father lives here and has his car. Picture included of local police pulling his dad over...yes local news picked up on it and made it news:/ I don't know him but I do know what he does and did for local charities and I got nothing bad to say about him

These 3 vehicle's are made here this is the first and only Lexus to be made outside of Japan (this is a huge honor)

This man's ex wife is also from Kitchener as well. I really was blown away when Paul told me this in 1998 and offered different scenic routes to take home. Paul told me he loved bringing Cuban mahogany back with him when visited as there was no trade agreement at the time with the U.S.

I forgot we also host the largest beer fest outside of Germany

I am from New Orleans. Host of the Superbowl. Birthplace of Jazz and a Delta state of the Delta Blues. Thomas Jefferson bought the Louisiana territory from the King Of France, via General Napoleon for 15 million in 1803. The Louisian Purchase went from the Gulf of Mexico and up the Mississippi River to Minnesota and across to the Continental Divide and back South to Texas. What a deal!

New Orleans is home to Blue Crabs, Oysters, Shrimp, Fish, and Crawfish. World famous Restaurants abound that predate the Civil War. Cant forget Bourbon Street where the party is 24/7/365 and the music is great. The Jazz fest in April this year will host Fleetwood Mac, Billy Joel, The Dave Matthews Band, Maroon 5, Willie Nelson and a whole bunch of others all while great food is cooking all around you. Giddy UP!

Shawn - don't forget that you all have the United States Naval Academy. Though from Virginia, the Academy has played a HUGE part in my life as both grandfathers are from the class of '44 and my Dad is out of '71. I won't mention my cousins from '95 and '97.

Little island state to the South of "Mainland" Australia. 35,000 sq miles with a small population, about 500,000.

Originally inhabited by Tasmanian Aborigines, but European settlement saw to their demise.

We've got a lot of natural beauty here e.g.:

Our main industries are tourism, mining, aquaculture, wines, forestry and weirdly, building massive Aluminium Catamarans:

Again, weirdly, we have one of the "best" museums in the world here. Built by a local entrepreneur (ok professional gambler), it reportedly cost about $120 million AUD to build, and another $120 million worth of art. The theme is "Sex and Death", since apparently this is what people spend most of their time thinking about (they've obviously never played a PRS then...). It's free for Tasmanian's, but costs $20 if you're not! Going in there is always a crazy experience, some of the art is outta this world, like a zoetrope in shape of a fallen head, a poo machine (as in, feed it food in one end, poop comes out the other end), there used to be "The Great Wall of Vagina" which featured 400 individual casts of... yep, vaginas.

Constructed out of Cor-ten and concrete, and dug out of the side of a sandstone cliff, there's also concerts, markets and festivals held here.

I am from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Well, we are famous, I guess, for our coffee, Carnaval, Samba, Bossa Nova, Brazilian Rosewood and Pernambuco. I guess Brazilian wax and good looking girls are also known abroad, not sure about that

I am From Decorah Iowa. It is a smaller town located in the NE corner of the state. County seat. On the upper Iowa river. Less than an hour from the Mississippi river. Also only 60 miles from the famous Dave`s Guitar Shop in LaCrosse Wisconsin. World famous Mayo Clinic is only 70 miles to our north.. also home of the World famous Bald Eagle cam that set records for views on UStream. http://www.decoraharea.com/

Nice bike trail--Great Canoeing. And if one is into dirt track stock car racing we have 5 dirt oval tracks with in a 60 mile radius! One is in town at the county fair grounds. We have oepn mic at a down twon bar the last Sunday eve of every month. Also Home of Luther College.

Arkansas, specifically Fayetteville, where the University of Arkansas is located. Outdoor activities are popular here, golfing, hunting, fishing, camping, hiking, mountain biking, etc. The weather is moderate and the scenery is nice. Ozark mountains are nearby. The only other items of note in Northwest Arkansas are the world headquarters of three Fortune 500 companies; Wal-Mart, Tyson Foods, and J.B. Hunt.
