Hi all, long time lurker but first time poster :-D

I recently bought an '09 Mira and it's frankly pretty awesome. After pulling it apart, I concluded that it's all original, but the neck pickup is mounted "reversed" with the adjustable pole pieces facing the bridge. Was this a stock configuration with these guitars? If not, does it have any effect on the way the guitar works or sounds? I noticed there's a decent amount of pickup wire in the control cavity so maybe the previous owner reversed the pickup, but I just thought I'd ask you knowledgeable folks!

With certain pickups, it was common to have the neck with reverse polarity (magnet reversed) to assure humbucking in all modes with the 5-way rotary switch. But I think the typical stock config is slugs to the inside.

Just checked my 08 Mira. Adjustable pole pieces on the neck side, slugs on the bridge side.
Pics of your Mira?:D

Stock is always adjustable on the outside, except on 408 and MT pickups.

Biggest impact on tone is when you tap the pickup. The coil closer to the neck will give a fuller sound.

Thanks for the info guys! I guess the previous owner flipped the pickup around, I think I've heard that a well-known player did this so maybe it was an attempt at tone chasing :-D I'll try to post pics soon!

Btw, does "MT" in this context mean "mid-turn"?

Multi Tap

I've played around with flipping pickups but like was said earlier it really only effects single coil mode.

Hmm maybe that's what the previous owner was going for. Anyway it doesn't look like the stuff was ever de-soldered and there's plenty of extra wire so I can play around with it both ways. One of the ground connections did come loose; I didn't notice at first and almost freaked out when no sound came out of the thing :-D
