A couple of my guitars are particularly resonant. The ME1 and the Dirty 100. They both exhibit a bit of neck pickup rattle on particular notes.

I'm just wondering what the general consensus is on the best fix for the problem.

Silicon tubing instead of springs? Buck up and put longer/stronger springs (man, springs are a pain)? Gaffer Tape slapped across the pickup? Just take the pickups out and stuff a Wolverine figure in the hole (al-la Phil X)?

Any and all suggestions welcome!

My 53/10 does this a bit, particularly on the neck pickup. I've just cut little squares of thin card out and wedged them down the side of the pickup. I'm sure there are more elegant solutions but it works. And I reckon the pickups being more tightly held to the rings makes them sound better too

I like a lot of different pickups, and the ME1s are among my favorite guitars ever, but I’m not a fan of the stock RP pickups. I find they sound flat and lifeless, and I’ve replaced them in all of my ME1s (while keeping the RPs In case pockets to keep the originality). I really like 59/09s as a replacement, but it depends upon your music genre obviously.

:) I think you posted this in the wrong modern eagle thread Steve. There's another taking about pickup options

Check your pickup mounting rings if you haven’t already.

This was happening on my Hollowbody and it was bumming me out thinking it was just a characteristic of the guitar I’d have to live with. Turns out I just needed to tighten the four screws.

Oh my Universe! Sergio is some kind of diety and now my new favorite forummer!

This seems to have worked for both instruments!
