Replacing Vintage Tuners with Phase III on Private Stock

Hi all, new to the forums and had a quick question ..

I saw on the PRS site that the Phase III tuners are interchangeable with the Vintage so I decided to swap out the vintage on my new Private Stock 594 with them... I spoke with PRS and they said that there might be a bit of an "imprint" from the face of the Vintage left on the back of the head stock...

My though is maybe to give it a light buffing with some guitar finish compound to remove it... but it occurred to me that the signatures and serial number are also on the back of the head stock... are they under the finish or above the finish? If they're above the finish, then I'd be removing them and that would be VERY bad..

Thoughts?

Buffing will not remove it...Use Graphtech Invisomatch plates.

Yes, there will be imprints from the Vintage tuners. Not much you can do about that.

Any special skills needed to use the plates, or just mount them under the tuners and go? The ones I see on line seem to have more than just the two screw holes on the North and South side.
