Hi everyone,

Would it be possible, on a Custom 24 with HFS/Vintage, replace a 5-way rotary switch by a DiMarzio EP1111 3-way switch? I don't need a push-pull because I only want these 3 positions: neck HB, bridge HB, and middle split coils.

Thanks.

Yes. there will be an extra wire on both pickups you'd just put a piece of tape over and don't use.
With splits in the middle, there probably wouldn't be any extra wires. I was thinking about doing exactly what the OP describes at one point and the EP1111 is the way to go to make this mod. I never did it though.

Just as an option, there is a way to add a push pull switch to the 5 way rotary controls that will give you all of the original 5 way selections, plus dual humbuckers. If you are interested I could post a drawing up, I did this to mine, and I was quite happy with it.

Didn't the PRS Classic Electric have this kind of switching? I know the CE model had the rotary. I'm talking about the very first ones. I remember them coming out and even have a catalogue with them in it. The toggle was silver. I wonder if it was the DiMarzio.

99SS#20, I'd be interested to see that.
