Removing volume and tone knobs from my PRS MC58

I know the answer to this question...but figured I'm gonna ask anyhoo.

They just pull straight off correct? On my other guitars I wrap a polishing cloth under them then pull them off, but just want to know if there's anything more to it than that before I go plunging forward.

The volume knob has a bit of a wiggle to it and I think the surface nut needs to be tightened a smidge so I want to pull the knob and tighten it.

Thoughts on my newbie question are greatly appreciated!

You've got it right. Either a rag underneath and turn the knob back and forth while pulling up with the rag.

I like to use a shoe lace and wrap underneath and cross the lace over itself. Then I turn the knob back and forth while pulling up with the lace.
