I would like to keep this silversky I bought, I understand it doesn't fret out because of the quality of the fret job, my concern is when I have to get it regretted, I doubt the local luthier will do as good a job and therefore it will fret out, are these valid concerns?

I have a 2010 Road Worn Strat that doesn’t fret out. I love bends on that guitar. Made in Mexico, 7.25 radius, same action as my CE24, doesn’t choke. I love the vintage radius. So nice to play on. I wouldn’t worry about it

I'll third the "PRS technical center" route if needed at all. I do recall hearing PRSh saying something about how he uses a fretwire that's intended to last 20 years of hard use--basically, he says play the guitar for 20 years and then move on. (I'll have to find the YT link where I heard him say this.) If he's using that alloy for the frets on the SS too, then maybe it wouldn't even be an issue. But I understand some of us are harder on frets than others...

Edit: here's Paul's quote, and the video link from which its taken:
"We buy [fret wire] as hard as they're willing to make it, because we don't want the guitars to be refretted. Refretting instruments, in my opinion, shouldn't happen unless somebody just plays the guitar to death over a 10 or 15, 20-year period."

Hope your right.

Interesting to learn that PRS offers factory refrets - good to know. I don’t have a Silver Sky (yet...) but wonder if they would refret with ‘non-PRS wire’, like 6105 narrow talls?

I definitely understand being in an area with limited luthiers. There was only one repair shop in the place I grew up, and while he did pretty good work, he was the biggest @$$hat. Sucked to be a kid trying to learn and get better, but have to deal with that. Hopefully, there's a decent luthier near you. There's a shop in Honolulu, right?

Here's a post on how to post pics. You'll need to host the images elsewhere (like imgur), but it's all pretty easy.
