Refinishing Question - PRS DGT

I have a question related to refinishing. For whatever reason, the finish is coming off my DGT - it started with a little bubble i noticed when I took it out of the case and is now many bubbles all over the guitar. Anywho, the nice folks at PTC are going to take a look at it once I finish with a recording session next week and I'm guessing it will get a re-finish. I'm assuming that means they strip it down to wood and start again but maybe I'm wrong?

Perhaps a naive question, but does a refinish or the refinishing process alter the sound? It is a really amazing sounding instrument now and I'm a little concerned. Anyone have any experience they care to share about a PRS refi?

I just had a guitar refinished by the PTC and it came back as good as new. The sound and feel are all as good as ever...

Thanks CJM. Every good story will help me sleep better. I'm already dreaded being without it for weeks. Gonna be a long, crappy summer.
