I've got a P22 that I've loved a long time, but the body is a little heavier than I like, likely due to it being a little thicker than a typical Cu22/24; so it is sometimes prone to sliding off my leg. Not neck heavy at all. Any suggestions for reducing the body weight, even if just a little? Thanks.

Really no good way to reduce the weight of a guitar without removing wood unless you want to remove some of the electronics and that would be ounces , using a bigger ( wider ) strap might do the trick or there are various leg rest devices that hold the guitar in place on your leg.

You can't remove mass without removing material (or swapping one material for a less dense one).

1. Lighter weight tuners
2. Keep same tuners but replace the metal buttons w plastic buttons.
3. Replace

Sliding off your leg? Meaning, this is a scenario where you are playing the guitar while sitting down, and not standing up? If that's true, I've had the same issue w some of my guitars, and what I have done is place a towel with some knap to it, on my leg and then sit the guitar on that. It adds friction and keeps the guitar from sliding away.

This is a good idea. I fact I was going to suggest using one of those rubber things you can use to get a grip on a jar, and put that under the guitar.

the wood in most guitars is the vast majority of the weight. then trem, then pickups.

you aren't going to notice much difference removing the pickups, and removing the bridge usually has negative effects on playability.

also the guitar will be neck heavy.

There's really not much you can do other than get a guitar that's lighter in the first place

Thanks, I'll give that a whirl.

After playing for years on a ridiculously heavy solidbody Gibson Les Paul, I almost bought a double cutaway 'chambered body' Les Paul they were selling for a while. I never did buy one and they don't seem to make them nowadays. I would think that chambering the body of your guitar would be the only possibility. But better yet have a different guitar in your future.

My favorite non-PRS is my Ibanez JS2410. It has a very rounded, slick body. It’s well played so it’s not pristine anymore. I stuck a piece of adhesive backed 150 grit sandpaper along the bottom curve. Works fine. Would I do it to one of my core PRS? I’m not that strong 😁

If it’s important that it remain that exact guitar, there’s not much you can do that would shave more than the weight of the 9v battery. Use a strap.

If the piezo is what is important, swap it for a HBII that has a piezo.

If it’s important that it be a P22, see if you can swap it with another P22 owner who is less weight-conscious.
