My brother came by to help me install some recording software (studio one) on the new laptop. First dip into recording and producing my own stuff. My brother has a studio that uses both this software and pro tools. But he said this would be more user friendly for me. I am going to have to nerd out to figure out how to actually use it....but I need to get at least a basic grip. It will save us a lot of time and money the next time we go in to the studio to record an actual album.

He mainly produces hip hop type of music in his studio. But he said that the idea is the same as far as how to use the equipment and software. I am a green newby with this kind of thing....but you gotta start somewhere.

EDIT: Admins...I meant to post this in "Studio and Stage" but somehow I put it here. Please move it to that section if this isn't appropriate for the general area.

You'll be fine! Make sure you save regularly (like at least every 15 minutes or so) and also make backups to an external drive at the end of each day or more often!! If you do not, you could easily loose some or all of your work!!! I know you have your brother to rely on, but if you have any questions and you don't want to bug him, I am happy to help!!!! I have not worked specifically with Studio One, but I have worked with dozens of DAW's, so I have a really good handle on that stuff and computers in general!!!!!
