Random. No more or less

I am the type of person that needs a schedule. As soon as I wake up I write my daily list of things to do. I honestly don’t know how to relax. I need to be moving just like a shark to stay alive.

I think I am going to volunteer for the literacy program for immigrants. I have always loved reading and learning new words. The local library has this programme.

The neighbour that lived beside us couldn’t read nor write. I can’t imagine navigating my way through this world this way.
I always found that writing out tomorrow’s To Do list the night before allowed for a better nights sleep. Less to keep my mind racing when I should be asleep.
 
I never have that problem, my conscience always tells me what's in need of doing. And she never forgets to remind me...🤣
I don't have that issue either, anymore. When I managed people, and ran a branch location, or our Distribution Center there was almost always something that would wake me up in the middle of the night.
 
I had the most bizarre dream ever. I was in the middle of a dream. That dream got cut off abruptly and a brand new adventure started only this dream stopped and I ended up going right into the ending of the first dream and finishing it.

I had to really think this one one through.

The last dream was about hopping out a 65 candy apple Corvette. But I was 20 years younger.

Dreams. I am glad that’s all they are sometimes.
 
How long did you do it for? I am doing it for when I need a short burst of speed while doing my dance routine to my songs. Doing the duck walk ain’t no walk in the park. I did it almost 3 times across the width of the deck and then had to sit for a minute to catch my breath. I need to get my move a groovin’.

This might very well be the last hike before the heavy snowfall, and what a wonderful day we had, crisp and clear and not that cold.

As a fun fact: the high mountain refuge in the last pic is called "Cabaña Verónica", with an altitude of 2,325m (or 7,628 ft, for you feet lovers). Although it's really small it's one of the most iconic ones in Spain and It was built using the metal dome from the anti-aircraft battery of the American aircraft carrier USS Palau, which was being scrapped in Basque Country (around 1960).
 
I never knew that he named the MCCarty after his friend.

I'm no exercise physiologist, although I play one on TV. I can ask my son in law for his opinion on this, as he is one.

IMO, this is mainly for athletes that are already in good shape, who need just a bit of "burst" increase, in speed, power or such. I used it specifically for jumping. I haven't done it in years because of my knee (bad! LOL). But it was on old basketball player thing... you get a box or better yet a bench with no back, that's about knee height and you jump from the ground to the bench to the ground, back and forth. Then, you jump from one side of the bench to the other. The key is, as soon as you hit the bench or ground, you jump. The Plyometric part is that you don't say stand and jump, you jump immediately after you land from the previous jump. So you're muscles are "loaded" from the landing.

I did this a lot, but had to stop many years ago because while it definitely adds a bit to the hops, it was hard on my bad knee. The only other one I did, and not a lot, was marine pushups, where you push up hard enough to clap on the up motion of each pushup.

I don't know if this particular thing is what you need for what you want. Stretching, and deeper knee bends will give you the strength for those. Unless you want to do some Diamond Dave high jump karate kicks, I'm not sure the plyo stuff will help much.

Does anyone partake of plyometrics?
Did when I was much younger and not broken the way I am now. My knees are shot and my left ankle only has 25% range of motion (arthritis and interstitial swelling when I try and work it much). But before all my injuries took the steam out I used it for conditioning my legs for playing hockey and it helped my martial arts competitions. I used to be able to jump down off a 10' roof and land light as a feather. Of course that was 35 years ago and I was a trimmer 180# too.🤣
 
I have been busy inventing up dance routines to each particular song. I just don’t want to stand there. I need more energy and I think I might start running to boost my cardio. I have a recumbent bike and a treadmill but there boring. My cardio just sucks. I was going to add 5 minutes of plyometrics to my morning work out! I power walk the dogs 2-3 times a day but it’s not enough. Plus now I am working. I honestly dislike this job. Too much micromanaging. I have another offer from another company. They want me to start in January. When I was looking for a job it was slim pickings but now I have a job and another offer for January.
 
It's cold again today -22c (5 below f for you US folk), which really ain't all that bad considering I've seen far colder this time of year. But winter is winter like it or not. The lake booms as the ice that formed a couple weeks back thickens and expands, it's kind of eerie sounding, but still pretty cool.
I was reminded of a repair project that I never got done this past summer... the drain in my main floor tub freezes the P-trap if I don't put plumbing antifreeze in it prior to the cold months...oops. I was supposed to open up the outer skin of the house and figure out how to get some heat in the cavity (freaking stupid design issue that we never caught 35 years ago when we built), and when we finished the basement years ago was when it created the problem. Prevented the basement heat from reaching the recess where the tub drain on the main floor above is. A simple heat tape will do it, but it's too far to reach inside from the basement to get at the drain without tearing the entire sheathing and insulation off the inside basement wall. The worst of it is getting the stupid drain thawed out to restore the tub use. I can't get the popup drain plug out of the tub either to put a heated probe down the damn thing. Brain farts are so painful at times.
