Random. No more or less

It certainly was!

Have you tried just writing lyrics, without putting yourself under pressure to come up with accompanying music?
Sometimes I think I have a feel for it, and then it fades faster than a weak sustain. I keep working at it, but so far nothing really comes of it. I won't give up on it though, maybe one day that light will shine.

I write best when I’m not trying. Especially if it is something creative.
Even for serious stuff, I will sketch some ideas and a flow, but let the details pull themselves together.

Thunderstorm last night. Not that it can't happen at just about any time of year (it's just a temperature/pressure differential thing meteorologically) but was different seeing lightning flash in late September.
I had some painting done in our solarium this week that has been a waiting game for months. I did the drywall repair myself but my skills with a brush rival my soloing skills so after 4 attempts at finding a professional painter we finally managed to get one to do the job. Some serious two story ladder work was involved so that takes younger or at least steadier legs on a 24' extension ladder than I have. And with the mudding compound it doesn't drip like paint does when you shake like a dog crapping razor blades.🤣
So yesterday afternoon after the paint crew left I replaced the base boards with new ones. Of course I didn't measure the total run and had to run into town and get another long length of the moulding. As I was outside cutting with the miter saw I kept an eye on the clouds and fortunately was done well before the rain came down. Now all I have to do is put a final coat of paint on the boards and I can put everything back into the room where it belongs.
I head-contracted our house myself when we built 35 years ago, and the only thing I didn't have a hand in was laying carpet. You learn a freaking pile of things building a house! Not that I would ever do that again, there's a lot to be said for turn-key building/ownership. But I was financially "frugal" at the time and I saved over ten grand plus knew exactly what was going into our home all the way through the process. There's more than one inspector that is likely still reeling from some of my arguments and quoting building codes that I knew better than many of them did. I also told one banker to combine his sex and travel together when I took my mortgage (wasn't a large sum really, like $56k on a $130k project but it was huge to me) business elsewhere. I had a large nest egg from the sale of our other property and access to my shareholder's loan account through my business so I wasn't "married" to any bank for funding. Was the same bank that our business accounts were in and we actually pulled those accounts for similar reasons of inadequate service. They came around eventually, but we made our point and they never did get my mortgage account. Paid it out in under 5 years anyway so it wouldn't have gained their annual profit picture diddly in the general scheme of things. I just wanted the credit building advantage of paying off a mortgage. Our first home was a mobile so chattels don't really do as much for a credit score as a registered mortgage does. Not that I care much anymore, I'll never be in that situation again.
My retirement income is far more meager than when I was working but the only thing I'm a bit extravagant on is my racing budget and my music addiction so as long as I don't get stupid and let that damn GAS and race spending coincide, I'm pretty OK.

I want this not that I am going to get it! Nice birthday or Christmas present or even international Lola’s day! Lol

I played with one of those for a couple of minutes 3 or 4 years ago! It was entertaining and I could easily whittle away hours of time with it and different sound profiles. One thing that is great about it is, it takes some complexities out of the process of creating music. The guitar is a very complicated instrument compared to many other instruments, this item does not get much simpler ;~)) The next musical purchase I make outside the guitar world will likely be the Roger Linn (yes, the creator of Linn Drums in the 80's) Linnstrument! It is a whole new way (like the orba) of making music with intuitive gestures to do common musical tasks! I have exchanged some emails with him regarding an idea I have for a new instrument, and he encouraged me to enroll in some engineering classes to get it figured out ;~)) Here is a video of him demonstrating the Linnstrument!

Long, but good, day. Spent it on airliners headed to Kauai in Hawaii. Probably my favorite place in the world. I’m fortunate to be here for two weeks with my wife and son. Gonna be a very laid back vacation with very little planned, but a whole lot of fun to be had.

Vince is four, and was so wiped out by the travel that he fell asleep in the shopping cart at Costco. Might have had something to do with him being up four-hours beyond his normal bedtime. Wife has hit the sack, too.

I stayed up a little later to eat a slice of Costco pumpkin pie and listen to the ocean for a bit. It’s a good, if strange, combo.

That is pretty cool!
I would love to try this. I told you about that park with the musical instruments built in as part of it.
Oh I forgot I have a DATE this afternoon. All my roller skating ppl that I skate with are taking me to a really lunch today. They wanted to thank me for putting this group together and organizing everything. They are just university babies. They bring a fresh new approach to everything. If I could stay 58 years old I could easily reside at this age an be happy forever guitar player.
