Random. No more or less

Haven’t been able to sleep. I went and got my Shingles, Pneumonia and tetanus shots yesterday. My shoulders feel seriously hurt! This just sucks.
That’s a lot for your system to take all at once.
Tetanus shots are evil. They hurt worse than the stitches that usually precede them.
Nurse - “When did you last have a tetanus shot?”
Me - “Ummm..“
WHAM! Crochet feeling needle right in the shoulder!:p:D
It takes days until it stops hurting.

I woke up early this morning and honestly I feel like I was in a boxing ring with a prize fighter. When the nurse told me I would hurt today and not feel well I just brushed it off. She was correct. Staying bed all day. I am not going to get up and force myself to something because I can’t! I am useless today but I am okay with that. I happened to find a Guitar Hero like game in my apps. It’s highly entertaining!

Shingles will kick your butt. Most people I know found the second dose to be worse than the first. But it will pass, and since Boogie isn’t here to tell you: you do not want shingles.

I'm 71 and have not gotten the shingles shots. Haven't had shingles either, knock on wood. Keep wondering if I should get the shots.

I'm very leary of the whole shot thing. Fact is I've never even gotten a flu shot in my entire life. I've been lucky because it's very seldom when I've gotten the flu and it's come and gone in 36 hours tops. I will admit I caught the swine flu in 2009. I had a lung infection just prior which made me vulnerable and I'll tell ya, I was a wreck for two weeks.

I truly know how bad Shingles is. My husband had it. It was constant pain 24/7. I wasn’t gonna to get the shot but when I saw how it affected my husband I said screw this I am getting the vaccine. My next dose is in 3 months.

Do what you think is right for you.
Shingles is a long dormant left over from chicken pox. If you know you never had chicken pox, your risk is low.

So it’s 3:34 am. Not happy about being woken up to the sound of Ben yacking in the hall way. Sure enough the hallway is a complete disaster. Just finished cleaning. I need sleep!

Is there a way to upload vids here? Our own personal ones. I never have and have never attempted it!

You can not upload them here, you can however link to them, but only from the sites "approved" video sources. Now you can still put a regular link to a video that is not in their "sources" list, but it will not display as a video, so users will have to click on the link and go somewhere else to view it in that scenario. The list of approved sources, based on the video dialogue (double photo icon between smiley face and quotation marks in main menu) are Apple Music, Dailymotion, Facebook, Flickr, Giphy, Imgur, Pinterest, Reddit, SoundCloud, Spotify, TikTok, Tumblr, Twitch, X, Vimeo and YouTube. Let me know if you need a hand figuring this out or a site to host your videos at ;~))

I think Dave was perfect for VH in the early years. But for me (and perhaps the VH brothers from what I've read) his "schtick" got old. I used to laugh when I heard him on radio interviews because he was so wired. And nobody could argue with the early VH stuff.

But after years of his outrageously larger than life persona, I kind of got tired of it and ONLY tolerated it because he was in Van Halen. Then Sammy came along. Sammy is a MUCH better singer. No comparison of actual vocal quality back then. Many people object to the changes in the bands sound and music when Sammy came on board, but other than the improved vocals (and much more mature lyrics) that change was more Eddie, than Sammy. Eddie has said he wanted to play more keyboards for years but couldn't because there was nobody to take over guitar duties on those songs. So if you don't like the songs with keyboards, blame Eddie, not Sammy.

I love all their stuff and appreciate it all for what it is. I love both era's and they'll always be one of my absolute favorite bands ever. Maybe I'm just getting old, but as much as I love some of the music off the last VH album with Dave, the lyrics are at best sophomoric. IMO of course.

Eddie was quoted after Dave was out of the band, as saying something like "we wanted to play rock and roll but Dave wanted to be a star." The article went on to say how Dave was more about being a star than a rock band front man. He said that while the other members of the band were committed to rock and roll, Dave would be happier singing Sinatra or disco, but would do anything that got him an audience. He inferred that Dave was more style than substance and it was getting old to the others in the band.

My personal experience with DLR, was a solo tour that he did on the UK in the early 90’s.

He was the real deal, gigging with a bunch of lesser known musicians.

Dave just wanted to perform and perform he did.
I just love Dave’s voice, it suits the songs that VH wrote in their hay day.

I could just never relate to Sammy on the VH line up and the songs that came in his era. But we all like what we like.

Thx MD.

I have gotten many and various shots and vaccines as an adult for a multitude of reasons. My wife being a frontline worker, it was necessary for job security for her to do it (and of course the exposure to serious contagions in the clinical environment) so I had to follow her lead to avoid compromising the home environment, not that I would avoid them anyway so. Growing up there was never any question, you just lined up with everybody else at school and "took your medicine" so to speak. Be damned if it didn't work too.;)
My father had a horrible experience with shingles and suffered for over two years with the pain. I jumped at the chance to get the shot, even though the shot was deemed somewhat ineffective and had to be replaced with another double whammy to be protected. And that first attempt was far worse than any inoculation I have ever gotten, including the tetanus shots where they nurse actually slapped you prior to the injection. Never did get a satisfactory answer as to why they used to do that... None of the COVID shots bothered me at all, nor flu, Hep or malaria shots for overseas travel and combative sports. But maybe I'm just lucky that way.😁

Guess who?

Had a heart attack Wednesday night. Apparently I'd been having them part of the day Tuesday and all day Wednesday...
Now I have one of these at 48yo.

That is not what anybody wants to go through! What was the blockage % on that one? Best wishes on a full recovery, the technology and medicines available today can really do wonders, but there is no substitute for lifestyle changes to help get it under control ;~))

Thanks.

Blockage was 99.9%...whatever that's supposed to mean.

It wasn't what I thought it might feel like at all.

Yes...definitely some lifestyle changes ahead.
