Random. No more or less

P.S. or, where that’s more aggressive and straight head banging your troubles away, some serious prog will take you on more of a mental journey, stimulating and distracting your mind from troubles.

Are you into metal at all? I find Megadeth to be great at getting rid of stress.
@DreamTheatreRules you are full of surprise’s aren’t you? I would never picture you as a metal head! Lol

But…..I will give it a go. My youngest son is into heavy metal and is going to every concert he can. I listen to his music daily. Do I enjoy it? Idk. I really never listen to metal. I do me love me some 80’s glam metal, Motley Crüe, Doken, Ratt, Kix. etc. It’s my daily listening music. Helix is great to listen to as well.

Thank you kindly for your reply! Off to listen to some heavy metal. Let’s see if can turn off the brain chatter.

“Music and the Brain” explores how music impacts brain function and human behavior, including by reducing stress, pain and symptoms of depression as well as improving cognitive and motor skills, spatial-temporal learning and neurogenesis, which is the brain's ability to produce neurons.

This is just amazing how my focus changes for an improved mood. Thank you @Dr. DreamTheaterRules. This helped me right now more then you will know. I am on a Iron Maiden Tour now.

Or this! On a 12 string guitar. Definitely on a different avenue now. This is not my choice of f music really but just watching this guy play is blowing my mind.

Life can be so brutally crazy at times. You don’t know if you are coming or going at times.

Everyone is so kind and supportive of each other. WOW!

My preferred place to hang out forever. Lol

I just found out my sons newish gf plays guitar. She plays Pink Floyd, Bob Marley etc. I was out of my mind with joy.

This is the best news ever so far today.

She has her pick of my guitars!

I am really excited. I have to keep this mindset in my back pocket at all times if possible.

And @DreamTheaterRules suggestion to listen to metal was brilliant. It really helped to alleviate the mind chaos.

I shall knight thee Sir DreamTheaterRules. Lol
Honestly your suggestions made a helluva difference in my mental demeanour.

It’s Metal mania at my house today. My husband won’t hear a thing. Sleeping like baby. Morphine is not really making him crazy this time. It’s weird he’s just so calm, mellow and just he sleeps. Good for the healing process.

I missed being here. I am going to try and be here on a more consistent.

At first, it was weird to me, that something as aggressive as Megadeth could actually calm the mind or ease stress. But, for me, it actually does. You get in this aggressive speed metal, grit your teeth and jam music and after it's over (usually means I'm home, getting out of the car) you're calmer than you were before.

Again, I actually find more complicated prog to offer a deeper type of mental release. I've said this before, but 45 minutes into "Welcome back my friends" I feel like I need a drink and a cigarette. LOL It's so emotional! Emerson is a freakin GENIUS!

It's not a stretch. It's always been said, if you've got the blues- listen to the blues; it makes you HAPPIER, not sadder, despite most of the songs being about "blues" subjects. It's therapy. Angry? Scream and shout, let it out! Feel better. Sad? Cry it out, you'll feel better. Mind full of chaos? Listen to chaotic music to "exorcise" it lol.

Can you give me someone to follow that is full bore metal. My son is heavy into Prog rock. He hasn’t gotten back to me yet.

I have been listening to Pantera, Iron Maiden, Mars Volta and of course Dream Theatre most of today.

I walked the dogs this morning listening to some gnarly head banging stuff. I wore my studio monitors so I could crank it right up with no distortion.

It really keeps my mind from wandering into the darkness. I watch them play and my mind and eyes are just trying to keep up to speed.

This is so perfect for me and keeps the demons at bay!

Whatever works for you! Just do it!

Why Not Listen To The Things I Post In The What Are You Listening To Now Thread?
I do go through that thread occasionally but the problem is I don’t know which bands are metal. I know the obvious like Metallica, Anthrax, Anvil etc. I should listen but sometimes I just don’t have a spare moment to scroll through it. So that is why I am asking.

PS, and I am not into Cookie Monster stuff, so somebody else’s music I might like I simply won’t listen to it because I can’t stand that stuff. Not that there’s anything wrong with it… ;)

Give this little ditty a try if you have never heard it:

You mean ELP? How could I forget them. Brilliant. I love this particular song.
