Ran across a 513 recently

Question: do the pickups on that guitar have uncovered versions? They don't look particularly beautiful, but they sound awesome.

Nope. If by uncovered you mean with visible bobbins and poles, again, no. It's an uber superStrat thing.

513s are exceptional guitars. Mine has been my main gigging guitar for the last year. Love it.

As already stated the 513 pups are only available as covered ones.
They are 'improved' bass pups for guitarist's purposes.
