Question on finishes used

Hello, first post here...wondering if it is available anywhere, or if PRS would be willing to divulge what specific products (brand name) is used in the finishing process? Looking in particular for what is used in the sunburst process, Any information is appreciated.

Maybe not PRS, but lots of guitar builders use automotive paint systems. TCO Global's House of Kolor is used by many builders and refinishers. As a matter of fact, they even have an 'Egyptian Gold' that looks startlingly similar to the PRS 'Egyptian Gold'. There are relatively few paint manufacturers, so everyone is pretty much using similar stuff. They may contract for proprietary color formulations and they may alter application techniques to achieve specific results. That said, most paint systems require applications follow a specific sequence.

Yes, that is what we are doing as well. It's a multi-stop process and we're currently using a PPG acrylic lacquer that has been discontinued for 4 years now. Researching available options.
