Question for those of you who own early model singlecuts.

Recently picked up a 2000 singlecut. It didn't come with a case so I ordered a multifit PRS case on reverb. Got the case today and man is it snug. When I close the case I have to push the top down a little to get it to fully close and latch. Is this how singlecuts fit in the PRS cases? Almost feels like the switch tip is pressing against the top of the case. Just want to find out if this is normal before I return it and try and find an older singlecut case from that era.

If you search fora thread about cases not fitting, you’ll find one from late last year. Might be some useful info in it. As I recall, it involved a Hollowbody.

In the name of Science I just tried my '01 Singlecut in the case my Modern Eagle V came in.

The MEV case indeed does not want to close easily with the Singlecut in it. Feels like the padding in the top of the case is a bit much for the Singlecut.

My silver sky and HBII hard cases (both new) seemed to have a similar fit issue where I had to push down a bit on the lid to get it to close. I was assured by PRS that this is normal, won’t damage the instrument, and the foam in the case will eventually mold to fit the guitar.

All of my early Singlecuts have their original cases and fit like you would expect them to.
Might be a matter of breaking it in.(TWSS)

Yeah seems like the newer cases are just tight fitting. Figure i will just leave it in the case with it latched closed while i am not playing it to help compress the new foam. I am not a gigging guitar player anymore so i don't know why i am really worried about it, as it will most likely never leave my house. lol
But nonetheless, I obsess over stupid ****!

I bought the same case for my SE Cutom 24 7-String and it was the same situation until everything broke in and now it's fine.

Well left it in the case all closed up, and it's already much better. Still not perfect, but the case comes much, much closer to fully closed when not latched now. Another few days and it will probably be perfect.

I have a 2000 SC and the seller shipped it with the switch tip unscrewed and stored. Maybe that was why?

Yeah that is exactly what is holding it open is the switch tip.

Its too thick
I'll just have to use the Gig Bag if it leaves the house

My OG singlecut case is ever so slightly thicker than the cases for my double cuts...
