Hello all. Maybe some of you can help me better know what to expect here. Would a change in the brand of strings to another brand with the same thickness of all 6 strings yet different tensions ever be expected to cause need for adjusting the claw screws and all that the relevel the bridge? Would they vary that much? And I can't find any definite #s on PRS Classic 10-46's tension vs DR Tite-Fit 10-46 tension. Kinda wondering if I save myself trouble by sticking to brand. :)

I've changed brands of strings (while staying in the same gauge) a few different times, and go back and forth here and there.

I've never noticed or had any issues with tuning stability or playability regarding the bridge, tuners, or the nut.

Brand, no. Guage, yes. In my experience but probably possible. Easy adjustment if needed. I can't imagine it'd be much.

Admittedly I don't swap brands much. Mostly D'Add or PRS string guy and D'Add makes PRS strings.

the Tite Fits have more tension than a normal ( same ) gauge string, and measure ever so slightly bigger also
I use the Tite Fits on all my guitars , I have always had to make a small adjustment to the claw when I move from the stock strings

I've noticed it on my Strats and Ibanez before, same sizes, different tension, resulting in necessary tremendous adjustment. My Floyd's seem more sensitive than my 2 point non locking trems.

Yea the DR Tite-Fits are like more compressed and denser. In comparison the PRS Classics feel softer at the same thickness. Think what I may do is make this particular axe my all-PRS axe and stick to the branded strings. My only complaint about the PRS strings is that D'Addario didn't provide them with their fancy color coding.

Thank you. It's set. I'll keep my DR 10's for the other axe. I'll relevel if I go down to the PRS 9.5's but I'm trying not to have to for sound reasons. Depends how my hands hold up with bending the 10's a lot.

Some strings brands give greater tension to the others. The Rotosound, Dunlop, some DRs are among them. Why? I donno, different alloy mix, fatter core... So yeah, sometimes you need to adjust here and there
It's not really different tension. Some strings are just more stretchy alloy than others. They're stiffer or more slinky. That's a bit different from string tension.

I think in my case the DR Tite-Fits are more metal fit tightly with more tension too. The thicknesses of all 6 strings are equal to PRS Classic 10-46's while the PRS's feel softer, more slinky, bendable, and less taut. It's helpful when the actual individual and collective tensions of string sets are made available for the reason I was after.

I just swapped a set of Elixir Omniweb 9's with DR Black Beauty 9's and had to tweak the springs a bit. The DR definitely have a stronger pull to them than the Elixir. I was kind of surprised at first, thinking I had 10's on it, but I still have a second set of the Omniweb's and they are same gauge as the DR. So there is a difference even with the same gauge when swapping manufacturers and the materials used for each.

"These nickel wound strings are designed with a special core-to-wrap ratio so players can maintain tension and tonal focus when tuning below standard"

That's dunlop. Like I said, roto and DR also making strings with a fatter core for higher tension with overall lighter gauge

Science!

I used to use roto back in my drop A days, probably would go with Dunlop nowadays. There's a limit to overall gauge I feel comfortable with, like actual physical capacity of the string. Anything over 52 wound and I feel like I hit the metal bar with my little plastic plectrum. With the heavy core strings, the feeling is more pleasant
