Recently purchased a PRS CE 24 and paired it up with a PRS Archon 50 amp. Love them both ... especially on the clear channel. I'm now using these with a Boss GT-1000 and looking for any advice on what amp choices within the Boss might pair up best with my Archon 50. The sound I am getting out of the combo is amazing but still new to all this so looking for any advice. I'm mostly in to classic rock and country. Any other tips on what you might suggest to optimize the guitar/amp/Boss would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

If using amp models in the GT-1000 with another amp, run it into the effects return.

Yes, that is simple and works well. I have not tried the 4 cable hookup method yet. The GT-1000 really produces some amazing effects to my ear. I'm just scratching the surface with it right now but it is a lot of fun.

My main rig for years was a GT-6. I tried it in a few configurations. Four-cable-method is neat if you want to use your amp's existing sound and only really dig into the modeller for effects. Personally, I'm all in on modelling, and want as many sounds at my disposal as possible. I've had some nice amps, but I want to have them all.

If using multi effects with an amp, definitely run your amp eq as neutral as you possibly can if running into the front of the amp, also be sure to avoid using a cab modeling block. If you're using multi effects in 4 cable method, I recommend foregoing the amp and cab modeling and get any extra push you need with an overdrive, distortion or fuzz block in front of your amp in the multi effects unit. I can't speak to the GT-1000 specifically, but I do occasionally run my Helix HX Stomp XL 4 cable method with my Delta Blues (yes I know, totally different amp from an Archon 50), but I've had good results doing it, and it saves a lot of DSP.
