Question for 509 Owners ---

I overlooked the 509 when it was first released because I didn't really look at the specs...thinking it was just a downgrade from the 513.

Anyway...it's quite an intriguing instrument...and it's got me interested.

Was there ever a 509 released with a maple neck/ebony fretboard?

PRS has done a lot of one-off's and short runs...so I thought I'd check here for advice before I start scouring the 'net....

Forget the maple. Get one with a full rosewood neck. You’ll thank me later.

That’s what I think you would find one with or maybe an Artist package. I would go with rosewood like below mentioned.

I personally like maple necks for bolt ons. Just my preference.

I have an artist package that has a satin flamed maple neck and ebony board and headstock veneer along with gold hardware.
You'll probably have to look for a used one as I don't believe the Artist Package is listed as an upgrade in the 2021 PRS catalog as it wasn't in the 2020 either; therefore, 2019 may well be the last year it was offered.

I have a maple neck wood library 509 from Brians run and it’s fantastic.

Tone is great and quite versatile.

I had a rosewood neck 513 about 5 yrs ago. It was BEAUTIFUL...but honestly, a bit too much for my playing ability. It was like driving a Ferrari to the corner to buy a container of milk....

The versatility was amazing, just a bit too ornate.....
