Question about my ‘06 Singlecut

Hello, this is my first post here. Glad to join

A while back I purchased a PRS Singlecut. I have a couple questions about it

it is vintage cherry, satin, locking tuners, one volume, one tone, three position selector near the bridge, and has #6 pickups. From what I see, these are largely the spec of a Singlecut Trem. I verified with the fine folks at PRS that this definitely was never a tremolo model (they looked up my SN).
Is there something I am missing? It seems the regular SC models have 2 vol and 2 tones. If nothing else, the specific guitar I have seems to be rare for some reason.
As a sidenote, I absolutely adore this guitar. it is versatile, has loads of bottom and a bridge pick up that really screams. couldn’t be happier! Just curious about the specific specs - seeming to have the Trem model specs but not a thinner body. It is actually quite a heavy guitar.
I appreciate your time in advance!

Welcome to the forum!

I think that guitar is new enough that there would be a MODCAT code under the bridge pickup. Sometimes, if you still have the hang tag, it's also listed there-about.

Anyway, make a few more posts and use an image sharing site like Imgur to post some pics. We'd love to see it!

From what you said it's defenitely an SC Trem Satin that was in short-lived production between 2006-2007. I'm not sure how thick your guitar is, but from the specs this model has similar thickness to the McCarty model - roughly 52 mm, a few mils thicker than Custom 24.
Hope this helps...

My confusion stems from the fact that mine doesn’t have a tremolo bridge but has the specifications of a guitar that would

The reply I got from PRS says it is listed as a SC Standard Satin on their end. While I am not the original owner, documents in the case do mention it as a SC Trem.

I just pulled out the hang tags from the case. There is one card that mentions the word trem. But the hang tag with matching serial number only calls it a Singlecut. And there is a document about the stop tail bridge included, so I know it was never altered.
It seems almost a combo of 2 models.
I am visually impaired to where trying to navigate a third-party picture host and then successfully post here would be quite an endeavor. if anyone is kind enough to allow me to send them pictures a more traditional way and post them here, I would do so and be thankful.

They made the Singlecut Satin in a few configurations. Humbuckers with or without trem. P-90's with or without trem. Maple top with humbuckers and trem. But you are exactly right, even the ones with stoptail have the classic PRS control layout, except the maple top stoptail.

The Satin series in the mid '00's was their first attempt at making more affordable set neck, USA-built guitars.

Thanks dmatthews for the help!

and thanks to everyone else. The sites I found which listed year-by-year the different models didn’t really include mine, I figured this would be The place for answers!

Other companies aren’t doing something right, if this is the lower-cost version of a guitar! The quality seems impeccable.

I also find the coil splitting tones to be fully usable, which is definitely not always the case as I’m sure you guys know with some other guys out there

You're welcome!
I had a chance to buy a nice SC Satin trem locally here in Vancouver a while back, and I could kick myself for not following through.

Yeah, yours seems to be a rare bird and I like it! :)

Not sure how it happened but the SE SC ended up looking a lot like that.

Just to add the final detail - while it is a Satin Singlecut, the fact that it has no maple cap, means that it is a Satin Singlecut Standard.

The satin finish on these is spectacular - both in sound and feel. I own a Satin Standard 24 and it is just a killer guitar. Don’t play it nearly enough though, but there is a reason I still have it as my avatar.

That it is. I had one with a charcoal finish and stoptail. Great guitars. Maybe just a typo on someone’s part as they did make them with a trem as well. I’ll dig up a pic of mine. Kinda wish I still had it. Somewhat unique and only made a year or 2.

The satin finish certainly doesn’t feel like something you are settling for. The guitar has something I tend to love in an electric - it sounds great and surprisingly loud unplugged.
And my young daughter says it is pretty! What else do you need??
