Quality of old Tremonti SEs

Someone's selling an old Tramonti SE for about $300 less than I can pick up a new SE245, and was wondering how much has changed over the years in terms of build quality and playability.
It'll cost me about $420AUD shipped (if no-one else bids) so not a steal, but not unreasonable either.

I should note that the reason I'm comparing it to an SE245 is that the new Tramonti SEs don't have a fixed bridge, which I want.

Well, I got my 2012 model in mint condition for only $300 s(about $327 AUD)so definitely not a steal.

I think the quality has improved over the years, especially after the 2012 major SE update. I find the all the newer SEs to be better than the older ones in another shop i know. But that's not to say the older ones don't play well! Really, it depends on the owner. If they take good care of it and don't just thrash it around, then it'll stay good even after 10 years. Best to know your seller if you're buying used. But since they're placing the price to high, why not just get a newer one? Plus you get the birds! :biggrin:

Well the ebay sale ended with 0 bids, so sent an email offering something more in line with what I was thinking, but he's not interested. Oh well.

well then, you should move on to your next target! :cheers: but do keep in mind that the SE Tremonti has a thinner body like the SE Singlecut. They might not be for everyone, especially traditionalists. The SE 245 will be a much more USA PRS thickness, or in traditionalists' case, LP thickness. Also the pickups are voiced slightly differently. So, it's best you only purchase what you can try in person.

The original Tremonti SE was the guitar that made me admit that SE's are killer guitars, I would've kept it if I wasn't trying to slim down on guitars when I owned it.
Real cool guitar, not really like a Les, but more like an SG and really comfortable to play.

yeah, I've played one lately and honestly I love the feel of it, except I'm more of a "one volume/one tone" guy haha! Maybe if i ever get one i'll wire it up that way... Will look pretty cool but still suit my needs. :laugh: It's a really clean looking guitar, sleek black, stark white binding (which I have a love/hate relationship with), it's a real looker that one can bring to shows but it can play more than just rock/metal stuff. Real nice and the price is just really un-PRS.
