PRS Fans,

I recently purchased a Paul Reed Smith SE Custom. Love it beyond measure. Questions? I have a Fender Mustang LT50 amp. I don't know if I should have purchased this amp. Kind of confusing.

Does anyone know any settings I should use on this to get a great a great sound with my new guitar. Thank you.

In the first place, there’s more than one Custom. 22 or 24 frets, solid or semi hollow? There’s no magic setting for getting “the tone” on your amplifier. Part of the thrill of the hunt is finding the sounds that YOU like. Any amp can sound good or bad depending on what you hear. Good luck, lots of practice and you should be able to get sounds that make you happy. This is all subjective, but read the owners manuals, or look them up on line.

Congratulations, glad to hear you're loving your new guitar! As for the amp, I'm not familiar with that model specifically but in general I would say there's not really a "wrong" amp. Sure, some are better suited for clean sounds, others for higher gain (distortion), etc. but you can always get a pedal or two to enhance what your amp can do.

And as @dogrocketp said, I'd encourage you to experiment with the settings to find what you like best, and keep practicing. A good starting point would be all knobs at 12 o'clock (straight up), then adjust one at a time, play a little, and repeat.

The magic is ultimately in your hands, the guitar and amp just help bring it out. There's no gear that's going to make you instantly play and sound like your heroes, just time and practice!
