Will the PTC change birds on an existing guitar?

Say you had a guitar with the current 'dirt' birds or the previous 'outline' birds - could you get those replaced with MEQ type birds, for instance? If so - what would the price estimate be? (am I allowed to ask that here?)

Thanks.

Why bother getting speculation from us when you can email the PTC and get a straight answer?

PTC will install a new fretboard with inlays from an existing production model. That is the only way - besides the fact that dots are too big to replace with birds, PTC does not do indepentant inlay work.

I thought it was a good question as I wondered the same. Changing the whole fret board is going to be too expensive for me, I will be happy with what I have!

Mike: I once got a quote from Shawn to replace a fretboard and change the birds. It was about three years ago. Remember you are dealing with frets also. However, if you love a certain guitar except you would really like the ebony fretboard, DGT frets, and old birds it doesn't have now ... this could be a good option.
