I'll be there with my SEMH backplate for their sigs (and a fresh 4-pack of metallic Sharpies, just in case).

Should be pretty cool, I really dig Periphery - particularly some of Mark's bits (like the 'Omega' solo and his track on 'Clear').

Anyone else going? I'm coming straight from work, so if you wanna find me I'll be the guy with the gray backpack that has an iconic bird on it (a blue one that you're more likely to see on your phone homescreen than on a PRS fretboard...) Say hi, bum a Sharpie, whatevs.

Got my backplate signed and pix with both Mark and PRSh. (Then read old threads here on how to preserve.) Paul smudged his sig a tiny bit and insisted on redoing it. Mark shook the pen and accidentally got 3 dots on the backplate, which coincidentally enough is part of the Periphery logo!

It was really interesting - Tom Wheeler and Paul discussed many major events in the history of the electric guitar, up to and including PRS. Lots of Ted McCarty anecdotes and impressions from Paul.

Paul was moved to tears on several occasions, talking about events that were critical to his being able to make a real go of it. I have never seen someone so passionate about his craft before. Must be why the instruments are so good from the most custom down to the most common SE.

Mark played "The Way the News Goes" and "Prayer Position". Showed a bit of the 'News' riff and talked about how it was inspired by his fave position on his sig: both pups, tapped. Talked to him briefly after, seems incredibly humble and cool.

Very glad I went!

I had a REAL good time at the event. It was VERY different than what I had anticipated - almost a non PRS event. Much more history and education about the electric guitar. Great speaker, even my wife was very entertained.

We got there real early and got seats on the couch which was fantastic for this marathon evening.

Tom Wheeler was a treat and kept Paul in line. As said above, and my favorite part of the evening, was the emotion Paul showed was speaking of those who "gave him a chance and made it all possible."

The talk was based on "The Giants who shaped the Guitar Industry" - the innovators and key players. I thought to myself, in the future Paul will be The Key Innovator of OUR time!!
