My problem with PRS tuners is they appear to be over sensitive. No matter what type tuning device that I use the tuners appear to over correct. I believe its related to the gear ratio. Are there replacement tuners that are less sensitive. Its an S2 custom with 3 way toggle and push/pull tone knob.

I’ve never heard that complaint in my life. I don’t understand why you don’t want to play as in tune as possible. That’s what got me to PRS in the first place. A set of SE tuners might make you happy.

Going by what you mentioned, it sounds like the tuners ratio is too fast for your liking. The thing is finding a set of tuners that have the same "footprint" on the rear of the headstock as your stock tuners (meaning the location of the small screw that holds the tuner from rotating), unless, of course, you don't mind drilling another hole, and possibly having the existing hole showing? 🤷‍♂️
That being said, the Gotoh 510 is an excellent tuner, and is available in both 18:1 and 21:1 ratio, which will give you greater control over how fast the strings come up to pitch, or go down in pitch if a string goes sharp. I use them almost exclusively, and love 'em.

The old phase 1 tuners had a fairly low ratio and would cause what OP described. The phase 2s were better though. What is the ratio of the latest tuners?

Never had this problem; no matter how coarse the gear ratio.
14:1 right? Not bad...not good. My minimum standard is 16:1....

My # 1 rule for tuning...
Always tune 'up'.

Try de-tuning all your strings from pitch...now you're ready to start tuning.

I believe the S2 used to have the SE tuners , I believe the Phase 2s are the drop in replacement go to John Mann site and you will find what you need /desire

Bigger tuner buttons may help you. The fine motor control required for the last few cents of tuning isn’t going to be markedly different with different ratio tuners. A little more surface area, on the other hand, may make it easier for you to apply the proper pressure.

I agree with you 100% that's what it feels like to me. Very little turn for a lot of movement is what it feels like.

6 or 7 cores in my life, never an issue. Matter of fact, their locking tuners are among the best I've ever owned.
