This might be an odd question... But could a PRS Trem (http://us.prsaccessories.com/collections/bridges/products/prs-tremolo-bridge) be installed into a Fender Strat without any need for further routing? Obviously I realize that the tremolo bridge mounting screws would have to be used, and I assume that those are simple enough to place.

Anyone ever tried this? Asking because I'm building a "partscaster" and think the PRS Trem would be killer in it!

Thanks in advance for the replies.

I think John Mann has the best solution for you IIRC he makes PRS bridges that are drop ins for Strat bridges
give him a call

Thanks! Just found his website.

Anyone ever use a MannMade bridge that can speak to quality, sound, and ease of installation?

Do a search -- there are several, with universal praise. I think bodia just posted about his experience recently.

I don`t know of anyone who has bought a Mann bridge who isn`t happy. He and Roxanne are fantastic people. He developed the original PRS bridge.

This! I haven't done one on a Strat, but I'm sure John would walk you through it. He's great with help on things such as this. As for his stuff, top, top, top notch! I have 4 of 2300 Stop Tails installed on my PRS guitars, and a 5th one on order. I also have two of his 2000NOS trems going into 2 CE24 projects.

Thank you... That's one hell of an endorsement.
Great to hear... I'm about to make the baddest ass Strat ever!

Cheers!

I put one of John's drop-in replacements in a Fender American Std Strat. Straightforward installation, and great results. The main reason I did it was because I wanted to use .013 gauge strings. The AmStd vibrato is kinda fluttery anyway, and with anything bigger than .010s it was annoyingly so. It turned out that the AmStd neck just wasn't up to the challenge of .013s either, so I ended up settling on .011s.

Fortunately, I fall on the Frank Zappa end of the string spectrum. (Frank never played anything larger than 9-42)

You commented in your NGD thread about how much you like the PRS trem, and the next level genius that must have designed it. If you talk to John, you can thank him for it.
