Long time lurker, first post.

I'm wondering about what strap buttons came, or have come, stock on PRS guitars.
Did PRS use strap buttons other than the usual big ones. That is, the ones similar to bass strings guides, as many say.

Any help on this somewhat trivial subject is appreciated.
Thanks.

I can't see the first one too well, but the second and third ones looks like strap-locks, probably Schaller, IMHO.

Standard after-market mod, nothing to worry about. Looking to buy a guitar with those installed?

Yes, on those links, they are all replacement buttons so the user could have strap locks. Commonly done, no biggie if you're buying used. can always get replacements if you want. No effect on value IMO. BTW, the tone on that first vid clip is freaking awesome!

Due to the size of the PRS strap buttons I could not force my strap on to them. So I unscrewed them then loaded the strap on and screwed them back in. I don't want to do that more than a time or two as I'll slowly strip the thread in the wood...NOT IDEAL. That said my strap lives on my guitar unless I take it in for a setup so it's not something I will be doing more than once a year.

So my question to those who stick with the original PRS strap buttons would be...how do you get your straps on them? Do you unscrew like I did or use a utility knife to widen the slot cut in your straps?

I have usually picked up straps that offer some play (softer leather/ material) that will fit over the buttons, but I have also lengthened the splits on either end of the new straps, and actually hammered around the strap pin hole with a large hammer to make the material more pliable, crazy but they ain't goin' nowhere once they're on the guitar!

I mostly use soft PRS straps that are easy to put on and take off, but with other straps I've simply lengthened the slot with an X-Acto blade, and worked the leather a little to loosen it up. I don't leave straps on my guitars when not in use (nitro finishes) and have had zero issues with PRS stock buttons.

I'm glad to have got this much activity and help. And yes, to clarify, I got curious about this from looking at used PRS'. Many had what I now know is replaced strap buttons or locks.

One royal blue Mccarty I was interested in was said to be 'original' or otherwise stock. It had changed buttons, though. Not knowing that at the time and spurred into curiosity, I decided: "To the forum!"

And then, there I was, asking the collective mind of humanity, on the internet, on a guitar forum.

I think this settles it, it's replacement parts, not stock PRS hardware. This is strictly what I was wanting to learn.

Thanks
