PRS Starla Pickups Question

Hi Everyone,

I had a Starla a few years back and absolutely loved the tones out of it. Sadly I sold it before moving and I really would like to get close to it but a double cut. So my thought is to get an S2 Thinline and put some Starla pickups in it (if I can find any!).

My question is: outside of finding some OG Starla pickups, what other brand is going to get me close to those amazing pickups?

Hmm…tough question. The S2/SE Starla pups are really nice, too, and you should be able to find some in the wild. The next suggestion would be TV Jones. I have unpotted TV Jones Classics in a Tele Cabronita but they grind harder than the Starla. Maybe an underwound Classic in humbucker format? Email them…they’ll answer immediately and will do just about any mod. Fantastic family-owned business and I highly recommend them.

Thanks Boogie! I have been looking at TV Jones for options. I had a set of SE Starlas and really didn’t care for them.

I stupidly sold the extra set of core Starla pickups I had back in my 2019 pickup purge.
